PEORIA, Ill. – A South Peoria residence is determined to be uninhabitable after a fire.
Peoria firefighters were dispatched to near Warren and Ann streets at 5:08 p.m. Saturday on a report of a structure fire.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the house and the blaze had extended to the attic.
The fire was extinguished and firefighters had to cut through the roof to vent smoke and heat out of the house.
No occupants were present at the time of the fire and no one was found during a search of the home. No firefighters were injured.
A cause of the fire was not released. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
