PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police say a nine-month-old was hit by shattered glass after a bullet struck the vehicle the baby and its mother were in.
Officers were called just after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to S. Ligonier for a ShotSpotter alert indicating 26 rounds were fired, but no victims were found.
PPD says about an hour later, a vehicle with a bullet hole in the windshield showed up at a hospital with the mother and the baby who’d been hit by glass fragments.
The mother said someone shot at them in the 1800 block of South Griswold Street.
Police have no suspects. The incident is under investigation.
